What is Belgian Beer Weekend?

Founded in 1998 on the Grand-Place in Brussels, the Belgian Beer Weekend is the world’s most authentic and prestigious festival dedicated to Belgian beer culture.

For over a quarter of a century, it has transformed one of Europe’s most iconic spaces into a living temple of craft beer.

Over 50 breweries, from family-run microbreweries to legendary Trappist abbeys, present their creations, “offering visitors every style of Belgian beer.”

Why in Venice?

In 2026, for the first time in its history, the Belgian Beer Weekend leaves Brussels for its first European edition and chooses Venice as its new home.

FREE ENTRY TO BBW 2026

No ticket is required. Everyone is invited to enter the square and immerse themselves in its magical atmosphere, beneath historic arches, with warm lights and background music.

Over 25 Belgian breweries, from family-run microbreweries to legendary Trappist abbeys, set up craft beer bars where the brewers themselves and/or our dedicated staff serve their creations, tell their stories, explain the styles, and answer questions.

There are no vending machines: just people, passion, glasses, and bottles.

Upon entry, each visitor receives a personalized electronic bracelet, rechargeable via QR code or at a dedicated kiosk. With a simple gesture, the QR code is scanned and access is gained to a selection of hundreds of unique labels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Cashless Payments

How do payments work at the event?

Belgian Beer Weekend Venice 2026 uses a cashless payment system. Because each glass has a deposit, a cashless system makes it easy to track your deposits and balance in one place. Instead of paying with cash or card at the bars and stands, you use a personal cashless card loaded with Tokens. 1 Token = €1.00.

You receive a cashless card at the entrance. A one-time activation fee of €1 applies for the purchase of your card.

You can top up your card in two ways:

  • Online: Scan the QR code on your cashless card with your smartphone camera. Create an account and choose your desired top-up amount.

  • On-site: Visit a top-up booth at the event. You can top-up with credit card or cash.

Simply tap your cashless card at any bar or stand. The correct amount in Tokens will be deducted from your balance automatically.

There is a deposit on each glass. When you return your glass to the same brewer where you got it, the deposit will be put back on your cashless card. After the event, you have until May 19th to get any deposits and leftover Tokens refunded to your bank account.

Yes. Scan the QR code on your card to log in to your account, where you can view your current balance and transaction history. You can also ask at any booth on-site.

Log in to your account via entrywallet.be/belgian-beer-weekend-venice, go to the refund page, and fill in your name and IBAN. Your remaining balance will be refunded to your bank account. Don’t have an account yet? Scan the QR code on your cashless card with your smartphone camera to create one.

Refund requests are possible until May 19th, 2026. After this date, refunds can no longer be requested.

If you already created an account (by scanning your QR code), your balance is linked to your account and safe. Visit a top-up booth or the helpdesk to receive a new card. If you did not create an account, the remaining balance unfortunately cannot be recovered.
